[YIN YOGA / DEEP STRETCH & RESTORE] MOBILITY, BREATH, NERVOUS SYSTEM RESET
Service Description
Yin Yoga is a slow-paced, meditative style of yoga that focuses on stretching deep connective tissues—such as fascia, ligaments, and joints—rather than the muscles. Unlike dynamic "yang" styles (like Vinyasa), Yin involves holding passive floor-based poses for extended periods, typically ranging from 3 to 10 minutes. Core Principles of Practice: Practitioners follow three primary tenets to achieve the "Yin effect": 1. Find Your Edge: Move into a pose until you feel a "comfortable discomfort" (roughly a 3 or 4 on a scale of 10) without straining or pushing. 2. Commit to Stillness: Once the pose is established, remain as still as possible to allow the muscles to relax and gravity to work on the deeper tissues. 3. Hold for Time: The benefits of Yin are cumulative over time rather than through intensity; holds allow less-vascular tissues to hydrate and lengthen. Key Benefits: *Enhanced Mobility: Targets the "shrink-wrap" effect of tight fascia to improve long-term range of motion. *Stress Reduction: Activates the parasympathetic nervous system (rest-and-digest), lowering heart rate and blood pressure. *Energy Balance: Based on Traditional Chinese Medicine, the practice aims to unblock stagnant "Qi" (energy) by stimulating meridians that run through connective tissue. *Emotional Release: Long holds can trigger the release of stored emotional tension, particularly in "hip-opening" poses. CLASS: FOUNDATIONS - Build the foundation for strong, steady yet fluid movement INTENSITY: LOW-MODERATE COMPLEXITY: LOW Who its for: *Newer Students *Returning Students *Joint Sensitive Students *Anyone rebuilding movement quality Class Feel: *Slower pace, More support, Foundational balance and Strength.
